Hoe wordt impetigo overgedragen?
Meestal wordt de bacterie overgedragen via handen of besmet speelgoed; soms ontstaat de besmetting via hoesten of niezen. Je loopt grotere kans om impetigo op te lopen als je last hebt van eczeem, omdat dit je huid gevoeliger maakt voor infecties. Kinderen krijgen vaker te maken met impetigo dan volwassenen.
Hoe lang duurt krentenbaard bij kind?
Meestal zie je dus geen blaren, maar oppervlakkige schaafwondjes. Krentenbaard gaat na één tot drie weken vanzelf over.
Hoe ziet impetigo er uit?
Bij impetigo ontstaan oppervlakkige beschadigingen van de huid, ontvellingen of kleine blaasjes of blaren die snel kapot gaan. Uit de ontvelde gebieden of blaarbodems lekt wondvocht, dit droogt uit tot een gelige (honing-geel) of bruinige korst. De huid is vaak ook lichtrood. De korstjes kunnen groter worden.

Infantigo, also known as Impetigo, which has been a much abused word throughout my medical career. Infantigo, more common in infants and children than adults, is an infection of the skin’s surface that is caused by staph and strep bacteria.
What are the treatment options for infantigo?
Typically, doctors will prescribe a topical antibiotic cream to apply over the infantigo rash or blisters. For more aggressive cases, a doctor may prescribe antibiotic pills.
Is infantigo contagious?
Infantigo is a contagious superficial skin infection. Most cases are caused by staphylococcal bacteria (staph, for short). A lower percentage of cases involve streptococcal bacteria (strep for short).
What are other conditions that look like infantigo?
Sometimes other conditions such as ringworm or scabies may look like Infantigo. Other infected and non-infected skin diseases such as, herpes cold sores, chickenpox, poison ivy, skin allergies, eczema, and insect bites can produce blister-like skin inflammation. Infantigo is not a serious condition.
