De rol van Arwen werd gespeeld door Liv Tyler. Arwen kwam ook veel vaker in de film voor dan in het boek, daardoor werd Arwen veel meer gezien en werden er meisjes naar vernoemd. In het begin mocht dat nog niet omdat het geen bestaande voornaam was. Later mocht dat wel.
