Is GLaDOS based on a real person?
The name “GLaDOS,” other than the technical name it stands for, is a pun on the female name “Gladys.” Indeed, a model folder found in the Portal files is named “gladdysDestruction.” This led to speculation by fans that GLaDOS was based on a human named “Gladys,” partially confirmed when Caroline was revealed.
