Yume Nikki is a free game in which the players explore the dreams of the fictional character Madotsuki.. It is through dreaming, in which the player is able to view scenes that are recognized as being genuinely disturbing at times.

The initial version was released in June 2004, with subsequent updates over time; the last occurring in 2007. It was later released on Steam by publisher Playism in January 2018. A 3D reboot, Yume Nikki: Dream Diary, was released the following month.
When did Yumenikki no Tame no Waltz come out?
A Vocaloid album, entitled Yumenikki no Tame no Waltz, was released on April 27, 2013. A two-volume official soundtrack, featuring all the original tracks for the game, as well as ten arrangements by doujin group INFINITY∞, was published in Japan by Glaive Music on August 31, 2014.
Yume Nikki is a strange game which has no dialogue and an unique art style. The creator of the game, KIKIYAMA, stated on their website that the game is meant to be an exploring game with a “dark atmosphere” but without plot or purpose.
Is there a book with a girl that looks like Madotsuki?
A picture book released in 1993 titled REX Yume Nikki (part of Kadokawa’s REX series) features a girl who somewhat resembles Madotsuki on its cover. Interestingly, Kadokawa is the company that made RPG Maker, the engine that was used to make the game. Madotsuki’s shirt design resembles a simplified version of the CJK character 囧.
