What is the history of Barovia?
Barovia is the first domain with which the Demiplane of Dread and the Core began, arising from the heinous actions Strahd von Zarovich in 351 BC. Strahd has continued to rule the land and the dour Barovian people through a fake line of successive rulers all bearing his name.
How dangerous is the Barovian land?
Walking between Barovian land is not itself dangerous, at level 5-6 there are really few encounters that can give the party some trouble. Locations in Barovia are dangerous: imagine if they went into the windmill instead of avoiding it. 3 night hags, the amber temple, Castle Ravenloft itself… Those are the great dangers.

How Big is Barovia? More than how big it is, the real question is how small it is! It is about 260 square miles! For comparison, the Forgotten Realms in D&D 5e is about 5 million square miles.

Who is the current ruler of Barovia?
Berez is a village on the Luna river several miles south of Vallaki. The current and undisputed ruler of Barovia is Count Strahd von Zarovich XI. The Zaroviches have ruled Barovia in an unbroken line for as long as history recounts, although doing so more than once in the teeth of enemy invasion.
Is Barovia a good domain?
A beautiful but hostile domain. The Balinoks divide the Core into east and west. The bridge that rejoins them is Barovia. It is her Old Svalich Road and her Svalich Pass that bring east and west back into contact with each other for a few precious months each year.
