Is PS3 online supported?
PS3 servers are staying online. Sony has not made any announcements regarding the closure of PlayStation 3 online multiplayer services. The company plans to discontinue the PSN Store on its legacy platforms, but that will not affect online multiplayer in PS3 games with active server support.

Playing online on PS3 has always been free. So no, we don’t “still” have to pay. PS Plus is only required to play PS4 games online. PS3 players can still benefit from free games each month through a Plus subscription, but Plus isn’t required for any online play.

Is the PS3 store going to end?
Recently, we notified players that PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita devices was planned to end this summer. Upon further reflection, however, it’s clear that we made the wrong decision here. So today I’m happy to say that we will be keeping the PlayStation Store operational for PS3 and PS Vita devices.
