It is a nationwide, Internet-based system that the U.S. government uses to maintain accurate and current information on non-immigrant students (F and M visa), exchange visitors (J visa), and their dependents (F-2, M-2, and J-2).

How do I know if my SEVIS has been terminated?

What is a fraud alert from SEVIS?
SEVP will place a flag on the name and SEVIS record of the F or M student or J exchange visitor. This flag will alert the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the ports of entry that the F or M student or J exchange visitor has a Fraud Alert for failure to make a fee payment.
How do I transfer my SEVIS record to a new school?
In most cases, you will obtain a transfer request form from your new school to be given to the DSO at your current school. Your current DSO will then transfer your SEVIS record to your new school. Your SEVIS record is accessible to only one school at any time.
How much does it cost to become a SEVIS member?
After entering your SEVIS ID, Last Name, and Date of Birth you will be able to print your payment confirmation. Petition fee is $3,000. Site visit fee is $655 per campus. Petition fees for change of ownership are $3,000.
