Another way to sound test the glassware is to lightly run a wet finger in a circular motion around the rim. If it’s crystal, you will be able to hear a subtle tone that emanates from it. With a close eye, inspect the sharpness or smoothness of the cut. The smoother it is, the more likely it’s crystalware.
Can you put Crystal in the dishwasher?
There is another type of crystal that will excite people with dishwashers called lead-free crystal. It’s usually made with magnesium and zinc. Lead-free crystal is not only durable, but many are dishwasher safe. Not that I’d ever put one in my dishwasher, but restaurants do, so you can too!
