Hoelang ondersteund KPN 2G?
Vorig jaar heeft KPN gecommuniceerd over het beëindigen van de 3G dienstverlening (UMTS) per 1 januari 2022. Om duidelijkheid te geven over de toekomst van 2G garandeert KPN het 2G netwerk tot tenminste april 2025. Daarnaast gaan we ons de komende tijd beraden over de toekomst van 2G.
Heeft 2G met bellen te maken?
Het 2G-netwerk bestaat sinds 1999 en is daarmee het oudste van onze huidige netwerken. Over dit netwerk kun je bellen en sms’en.
Heeft KPN 2G?
2G blijft bestaan, tot tenminste april 2025 Het 2G-netwerk van KPN blijft de komende jaren beschikbaar en in dienst tot tenminste april 2025. KPN gaat de spraakkwaliteit verbeteren met de introductie van HD-voice op 2G en daarmee wordt dit gelijkwaardig aan de spraakkwaliteit van 3G.

The 2G GSM network architecture follows a logical method of operation. It is far simpler than current mobile phone network architectures which use software defined entities to enable very flexible operation. However the 2G GSM architecture does show the voice and operational basic functions that are needed and how they fit together.
