Akuma is a secret final boss in the arcade mode. He replaces Kazumi as the final boss and Abandoned Temple becomes the final stage if certain conditions are met during the arcade run, for example: getting a perfect round.

Don’t think Capcom have clarified if Oni is a ’temporary’ release or a permanent effect of being completely possessed by the murderous hado. It seemed temporary in Asura’s Wrath but then that may have just been for story purposes, the same way Evil Ryu fully appears.
