How long does Effexor XR release?
You must first know about a drug’s half-life, which is the time taken for the plasma concentration to reduce to half its original value. The half-life of Effexor is approximately 5 hours (+/- 2 hours), which is extremely short compared to other antidepressants.

Although Effexor starts working as soon as it’s absorbed by your body, it typically takes several weeks to produce any noticeable changes in your mood, feelings and thoughts. You may experience some improvement in your appetite, sleep patterns and energy level in the first one to two weeks of using Effexor.
How long does it take to adjust to Effexor?
You may see an improvement in your symptoms after a week although it usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks before you feel the full benefits. That’s because it takes around a week for venlafaxine levels to build up in your body, and then a few weeks longer for your body to adapt and get used to it.
Is Effexor XR the same as venlafaxine ER?
The tablet formulation is available in the same strengths as the capsule formulation but is also available in the 225-mg strength. Venlafaxine ER is not AB-rated to Effexor XR® by the US Food and Drug Administration, and venlafaxine ER tablets are not a therapeutic equivalent to Effexor XR®.
Is it better to take Effexor at night?
You will usually take 75mg extended release tablets or capsules once a day. You can choose to take them at any time as long as you stick to the same time every day. If you have trouble sleeping, it’s best to take it in the morning.
