Is grade D fail or pass?
Technically, a ‘D’ is passing, but it’s a sort of a we-don’t-really-mean-it pass. A grudging pass, or perhaps a mercy pass. Or, it can be an “I don’t ordinarily fail students, but you’re testing my faith” pass. D’s make some level of sense if you believe that a ‘C’ is an average grade.
Is D minus passing?
A passing grade grants students credit for an academic course. Students who do not earn a passing grade do not receive credit on their transcript for that class. Each college sets its own minimum passing grade. At some schools, a D-minus is the lowest passing grade.
Does D count as passing?
In fact, a “D” is considered passing in both high school and college, as it’s above 60%. While a passing grade may be as low as 60%, you will want to aim higher for many reasons. As a college student, you don’t want to aim to barely pass a class.

If students have over 80% of UMS marks with an average of 90% across A2 modules they are awarded an A*, 80+% is also an A grade, 70-79% offers a B grade, 60-69% is C, 50-59% is D and 40-49% offers you the bottom pass E grade.
Do Cal States accept D grades?

A – is the highest grade you can receive on an assignment, and it’s between 90% and 100% D – this is still a passing grade, and it’s between 59% and 69% F – this is a failing grade.
Can you graduate with all D’s?
Some students can literally have all D’s and still be able to graduate, since a “D” is considered passing. Other schools don’t allow students to have a F, such as mine, and students will need to retake that class during summer.

Is grade D GCSE a pass?
Grades A* to C are a standard pass according to the Department for Education. However, grades D and E are still technically passes but are worth less than the higher boundaries. The F letter is the ‘fail’ grade, so anything below that – meaning the G and U grades – are outright fails.

BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Firsts (RQF) Each individual unit will be awarded a grade of Level 2 Pass, Merit, Distinction or Level 1. Distinction* is not available at unit level. D* is an aggregated grade for the qualification, based on the learner’s overall performance.
Can you go to college with D’s?
You can graduate with Ds, but you cannot go to college with Ds. Colleges will give you ZERO credit for the class, just like you got an F. On your college applications, you will have space to address this grade and discuss what you learned from it and how this experience made you a better student.
