Is PenFed credit union only for military?
Yes. Anyone can join PenFed. PenFed membership is free for everyone now, but PenFed was originally created to serve U.S. military members and veterans of all branches, as well as federal employees and retirees.

How do I get a PenFed account?
To begin enrolling in PenFed Online, go to PenFed.org. You will need either your Social Security Number or PenFed Member Number (not both), and your date of birth. Click the Log In button in the upper-right corner of the website, then click the Create an online account link.
Does PenFed credit union use Zelle?
You can send and receive cash using your PenFed checking account and services such as Square Cash, PayPal, and Venmo. They can easily be accessed on your phone through the Play and/or App Store. Agreed! Zelle is the preferred method of transfer.
They both have excellent customer service and have great programs and products. NFCU is more generous with credit limits. PENFED has lower rates. Those are the only differences.
