Waar de PlayStation 4 nog geen 4K Blu-ray speler had, zal de PS5 wel een 4k Blu-ray speler hebben. Dit werd al duidelijk gemaakt in het Wired-artikel dat in oktober 2019 verscheen. Daarin werd duidelijk aangegeven dat de PlayStation 5 een 4K Blu-ray speler zou hebben waarmee games afgespeeld worden.
