Waar is Bacardi rum van gemaakt?
Facundo Bacardí Rum wordt gemaakt uit van suikerriet afgeleide producten. Dat kan stroopachtige melasse, suikerrietsap of suikerrietsiroop zijn. Door gisting ervan ontstaat alcohol die gedistilleerd wordt tot een drank van 65 tot 95 volumeprocent ontstaat.

Don Facundo Bacardi Massó, de latere oprichter van wat nu een van de bekendste drankmerken ter wereld is, wordt in het jaar 1814 geboren in het Spaanse Sitges. Hij heeft familie in Cuba en reist als adolescent zijn oudere broers achterna om te gaan werken in hun winkel in de stad Santiago.
