Waarom erkent israel palestina niet?
Israël veroverde deze stad op Jordanië tijdens de Zesdaagse Oorlog in 1967, waarbij Israël de Westelijke Jordaanoever inclusief Oost-Jeruzalem bezette en annexeerde in 1981 Oost-Jeruzalem samen met vele Palestijnse dorpen in de omgeving ervan. Deze annexatie is volgens internationaal recht niet erkend.
