Ares was de god van de oorlog en het geweld. Hij was een zoon van Zeus en Hera. Bijna altijd was hij op stap met Eris, zijn zus en godin van de tweedracht. Ares vond vechten heerlijk en probeerde op allerlei manieren een oorlog uit te lokken.
