What happened to Uhtred and Brida?
When Ragnar Ragnarsson arrived from Ireland, Brida agreed to sail with him, but Uhtred had to part ways with his lover, as he had promised to serve Alfred for a year, and Ragnar encouraged him to keep his promise. During the five years that Brida and Uhtred were apart, Brida found a new man in Ragnar, becoming his lover.

Uhtred “the Godless” of Bebbanburg (born 856), born Osbert, was an Anglo-Saxon nobleman of Northumbrian origin who served as Lord of Coccham from 880. Uhtred was raised by the Danish Viking leader Earl Ragnar after being orphaned and captured at the Siege of York as a child.
