Is Dnd beyond worth it as a player?
As a player the character builder is invaluable DnD Beyond is digital replacement to the printed books. If you don’t have any of the books, it’s well worth it. If you’ve already purchased the books, it’s probably not worth it. Pros: The normal digital conveniences (portable, easily searched, everything in one place etc etc)

TBH, D&D Beyond would even work via a cellphone data connection, so this means you’re basically never without the 5e rulebooks.
Is D&D Beyond a good tool for beginners?
D&D Beyond is a good tool. BUT…the pricing is ridiculous unless you are just getting started and don’t own any books and are comfortable with using this as your only interface with the game and you’re comfortable with the possibility that some day DDB and all the content you paid for might just disappear.
