Anthem 2.0 Cancelled – February 24 The game’s rework has been cancelled. “In the spirit of transparency and closure we wanted to share that we’ve made the difficult decision to stop our new development work on Anthem (aka Anthem NEXT),” BioWare executive producer Christian Dailey said in a new blog post.

Dragon Age 4 won’t be coming until April 2022 at the earliest. In a fiscal yearly earnings call for EA’s Q2 2020 report, chief operating and financial officer Blake Jorgensen said Dragon Age 4 will “probably” release after the studio’s fiscal year of 2022.

Anthem is a decent game with a fair amount of content but it falls short in many areas, which inevitably led to its downfall. While it’s true that a majority of games released under this model tend to be unfinished and lack content at launch, most of them go on to make massive improvements via patches and expansions.

After putting a pin in short-term updates and expansions to focus on a “longer-term redesign” of the game, EA announced today that it will be canceling its planned revamp of the game Anthem, called Anthem Next. But the company plans to keep Anthem’s live service running “as it exists today.”
Should I play Anthem?
Anthem is a decent game with a fair amount of content but it falls short in many areas, which inevitably led to its downfall. Live service games are a very divisive topic in gaming. However, that doesn’t mean that we should just ignore a live-service game’s performance at launch.

The game has been “dead” for well over a year now, but only recently was officially killed off by BioWare, shutting down the proposed idea of an Anthem 2.0 or Anthem Next reboot of the original game.
